Bridging the gap has consisted of being a part of the 200 influencers to take part of this Social movement to bridge the gap between ageism amongst women. It is about bringing together mid-life and millennial women from a variety of backgrounds and cultures to empower social change. We are here to lift each other up, and support one another no matter what.
Meet Janet Gunn Norton, a Texas girl living in Los Angeles and working as a lifestyle and fashion influencer. She’s had a lifetime of unique experiences from Dallas Cowboys cheerleader to flight attendant to Hollywood actress, director, jewelry designer and she’s beyond grateful to be a wife and a mom. She lost her father at fifteen years old, you really value life & time when you lose a loved one. Janet has worn many hats up until now and contributes her fearless attitude and journey for joy is what has led her to be the happy, healthy, and inspired person she is today.
- Janet wanted to share her journey as a wife a mother, an entrepreneur & encourage women that it’s never too late in life to reinvent yourself when you’ve come to that crossroads in life.
- As women it’s vital that we support each other and know that it’s never too late to start believing in yourself and start seeking out new adventures, and to not give up on your dreams. Your life is your movie, it’s your story and the more passionate you become about being you, the better the movie gets!
-Watching my son become independent meant it was time to reinvent myself, to make sure I was navigating my own soul to a healthy mind set for the future. I knew I had to be the person I was teaching him to be. I had to begin to walk-my-talk, my husband and I encourage him to wake up and be his best self, reminding`him he has his whole life ahead of him. As I was watching him literally grow and change in front of my very own eyes it made me realize…that doesn’t just end when you become an adult, the self just keeps evolving. As long as you don’t give up, the soul will support the vision. As adults we get to continue to experience this growth and change forever, it doesn’t have to stop.
Daily habits are a must for me:
Soon as I wake up I look up, and find at least three things to be grateful for each day. I’m an early bird, my wakeup time is 5:30 am. I sit in silence for 15-20 minutes, no phone, no computer. I do a walking gratitude meditation with my dog after I take my son to the bus stop.
I literally talk to the birds, the bees, the plants and the trees. I find a fitness class that works with my work schedule and through out the day repeat “I am so happy and grateful that”…
Health & fitness are important to me because my desire is to live a long and healthy life. I had my son at 40, so I would love to walk the planet as long as possible to watch him thrive.
In today’s world we are constantly connected, balance can be challenging. I am always checking in with myself for the balance, my yoga classes, meditation, and downtime..
I am and have been for many years a dancer; I love to move. Finding a class with great music and a 5678 count is always exciting! I do believe in changing it up and lifting weights is vital for the bones.
-Life is full of challenges, it’s all in the way you react and handle it. Mistakes are usually hard to avoid and are usually precisely what we need to experience. Mistakes and failures are a fundamental part of our learning process.
Note to the youth;
What I know to be true- What other people think of you is non of your business, isn’t that freeing! and it’s empowering to know that you are in charge of your thoughts, your attitude is your choice, anything other is giving your power away.
Lastly…learn to listen to your intuition, your inner GPS system knows best, you are divinely guided.
Lastly, find a mentor, find someone older than you and reach out to them. It’s always wonderful to have someone you admire in your world.
I was excited to connect with Bridging The Gap because, thanks to the millennials out there… there are four that helped me tremendously and continue to do so today. I constantly learn so much from you and really couldn’t have entered or continue this journey without your help. By Bridging the gap, you realize we can continue to inspire one another.
