Love to travel, but find it hard to fit all your clothes, heels and make-up in one bag?! This is such a difficult challenge I face when I am heading out-of-town. I never want to leave something behind and then say “I wish I had packed that”. I have put together some packing tips and tricks.
The first tip I learned was to roll your clothes and not fold them. This takes up surprisingly less space, and allows to fit a little extra in there. Another helpful tool that comes in handy are travel compression bags. Not only are they compact, they also serve as a waterproof solution if any of your toiletries spill out. Choose pieces that can easily be paired more than once. If you can wear a top with a pair of denim for a casual look, but dress it up with a skirt and statement jewels, then this will certainly take the load off your luggage.
I love labeled travel bags like “wash” or “what to wear”. This is so helpful when going to put looks together, and great when keeping dirty clothes separate from clean clothes. Organization is key for me, and I love knowing exactly where everything is. It makes it easy while on vacation, but also easy for the return home when unpacking. All of your dirty items are in one bag and all you have to do is toss them into the wash and you’re done!
For toiletries, I prefer using a hanging bag because, you can lay it flat in your suitcase which ultimately takes up less space. I find that the totes can be too bulky and don’t fit as much as I’d like. Once you get to your hotel you simply take your toiletry bag and hang it up for easy access! I also find it useful to buy mini travel size containers to keep all of your things in like shampoo and face wash. They are super cheap and re-usable.
Being ready for the real travel part of the trip can be just as important! I always take with me a medium-sized travel bag and purse that can both fit under the seat. My key items are: ID/Passport, a pack of fruity gum (for when your ears pop on the plane..boo), a magazine and a good book, bottled water to stay hydrated especially after being in an airplane, lipstick, hand sanitizer, a blanket scarf and finally my best pair of sunnies to hide any tired eyes I may have. You can keep those items easily organized in cute cosmetic pouches, or even baggies.
